LA LUNA Y EL JAGUAR

Inomu was a beautiful guaraní girl, who was going to have twins with Tatú Tumpa or Armadillo God.

Inomu era una hermosa muchacha guaraní quien iría a tener gemelos, hijos de Tatú Tumpa o Dios Armadillo.

Her parents did not know she was pregnant until a wild peacock told the parents and everybody in the mardigrass party called Arete.

Los padres de Inomu no sabían que ella estaba embarazada hasta que una pava salvaje les dijo a ellos y a todos en una fiesta de carnaval llamada arete.

For that event ,her dishonoured parents told her to go, so she went.

Por ese evento sus padres deshonrados le dijeron que se vaya, ella se fue.

While she was walking in the bolivian amazonic meadow, the twins in the stomach told her to pick up flowers, in order to give the flowers to Tatu Tumpa  o Armadillo god “their father”.

Mientras ella estaba caminando en el bosque amazónico, los gemelos en el estómago le dijeron que recoja flores con el fin de dar estas flores a Tatu Tumpa o Dios Armadillo, “su padre”.

   Inomu got angry with their children, she told them that was not fair for her to carry on so many flowers.

Inomu se enojó con sus niños y por eso ella les dijo que no era justo para ella llevar tantas flores.

The jaguars ate inomu,, but the children got saved thanks to an old female jaguar.

Los jaguares comieron a Inomu, pero los niños se salvaron gracias a un jaguar hembra.

   

Whenever the kids grew up, they killed all the jaguars, but no the one with two heads, which got just hurt in one head.

 

Cuando los niños crecieron, ellos mataron a todos los jaguares, pero no a uno con dos cabezas el cual fue herido en una cabeza.

This jaguar with two heads went to Tiru Manto or the Moon, the twins reached the place where the two head jaguar was, but the moon  or Tiru Manto lied to them.

Este jaguar con dos cabezas fue donde Tiru Manto o la Luna, los gemelos alcanzaron el lugar donde el Jaguar de dos cabezas estaba, pero la luna o Tiru Manto les mintió.

Even tough the moon lied; she asked for help again because the two head jaguar were eating her, but the twins did not believe her.

A pesar de que la luna mintió, ella pidió ayuda nuevamente porque el jaguar de dos cabezas estaban comiéndosela, pero los gemelos no le creyeron.

 Therefore it is believed among the guaraní people: when an eclipse occurs that´s because the moon is being eaten by the jaguar.

Es por eso que se cree entre las personas guaraní que cuando ocurre un eclipse es porque la luna está siendo devorada por el jaguar.
